About the Chorale
Angel City Chorale, conducted by founder/artistic director Sue Fink, is a multi-talented, multi-cultural ensemble of 120 men and women that truly reflects the spirit of Los Angeles, the city it calls home. Performing an extraordinary repertoire ranging from Classical and Folk to Pop and Gospel has become the group's hallmark.
Angel City Chorale has appeared at such venues as Staples Center, the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the John Anson Ford Amphitheater and UCLA's Pauley Pavilion. The choir has performed with Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Angel City Chorale has been selected by internationally acclaimed music director and record producer Frank McNamara to appear in an hour-long PBS special, The American Tenors. The show has taped at the spectacular Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
Most recently, ACC made its debut at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in a festive holiday production of "A Merry Mancini Christmas," singing Henry Mancini's timeless arrangements of holiday favorites along with soloists Michael Buble, Monica Mancini, and Dianne Reeves, accompanied by the 77 member Henry Mancini Institute Alumni Orchestra conducted by Patrick Williams.
The group's proudest accomplishment, however, is its ongoing commitment to the Los Angeles community.
"Angel City Chorale is a gift to Los Angeles.
The character of L.A. is rich, boisterous,
colorful, dynamically alive. This chorale is
all of that."
Phee Sherline, Teacher/ Performer
Each December and May, the chorale organizes and performs their annual "Tour of Hope". A day of sharing through cheerful song and charitable donations brings comfort to those Angelenos who can use it most.
"Why Walk When You Can Fly," our
first CD, was released in December 1999. Produced by Rick
Krizman, it features our favorite selections from the past few
years. From the heart of the city, comes the heart of the holidays,
our second CD that was also produced by Rick Krizman. "Gift
of the Angels - Holiday Offerings" includes traditional and
contemporary favorites with music of Christmas and Hannukkah. Just
in time for Chanukah, we released in November 2004 an extraordinary
collection of Chanukah songs: "A
Chanukah Celebration ~ Songs For The Festival of Lights."
Our newest CD, "The Road Home,"
explores our many concepts of home. A significant
share of the proceeds will benefit OPCC
to further its work with homeless individuals, battered women and their children,
and people living with mental illness in Los Angeles.
All four CDs can be purchased through our Web
site.
